Alice At Home Chillin

12/13/2011

This is an old photoshoot circa November 2010, I wanted to attempt to do a "Fashion Photoshoot". But seeing as resources were EXTREMELY LIMITED it took a lot of planning and practice to pull it off.

First off I don't even have a model, the only person in the vicinity was my sister, but fortunately she also has a wardrobe full of harajuku-goth-outfits which made styling a lot more fun to plan! Like wise we've got a bunch of obnoxiously-antique looking items around the house... I mean why we even have a candelabra is beyond me, I'm just blessed to have all kinds of junk lying around. As for make up, well it took me a couple days/weeks studying Michelle Phan's videos and practicing it before actually applying it to my sis... then again I'll admit photoshop helped me big time afterwards...

So now all that is done it was time to shoot!
Back when I've just discovered how to manipulate lighting. This being pretty much my first time actually doing up a proper so-called studio shoot. But really its hardly a studio, this was shot in my bedroom, with a crappy DIY backdrop (that required heck of a lot of editing to clean up) and my lighting was only Canon Speedlite 580EX II, bounced off a large white board that happened to be lying around in my sister's room (yeah we have all kinds of junk!)

Pre-planning sketches deciding on make-up, wardrobe and possible poses

Yep that's pretty much how it turned up... Shot with a Canon 7D and Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens. I know most people advise against using wide angle lenses to shoot people, however this lens helped elongate my sister's otherwise normal legs and make her look somewhat model-esque ;)
